My symptoms started with unrelenting and excruciating pain in my back, which I thought was just muscle spasms. I visited the doctor, and he gave me muscle relaxers and an injection. One week later, I had to go to the emergency room again because the pain became severe. That was when they discovered the rash and diagnosed me with shingles.
